Against her will, the professionally successful style consultant Juliane falls in love with the carpenter Johannes and realizes that her relationship with her friend and business partner René is a dead end. But that's just the start of the problems, because the eccentric carpenter is quite headstrong and, with his work clothes, doesn't fit in at all with the so-called high society that Juliane frequents. What's more, she loses a lot of customers after her separation from René.

The ambitious lawyer Florian Faber represents the young truck driver Max, who was fired for flimsy reasons. A routine case, it seems. Unfortunately, his client did not tell him that he had an affair with the exonerating witness of all people.

Sarah Pohl is journalist in a great newspaper of Leipzig and she is now writing an article about an employer (the FCS company) who contracts illegally women and these women work in terrible conditions.

In seven scenes set in South America, the film deals with the various conflicts and (power) relationships between men and women. The individual episodes also deal with specific female role models: the bride, the wife, the rival, the abandoned, the fiancée, the abused and the determined. The scenes show a passionate, romantic longing for love, but also the harsh reactions when a promise of happiness is not so easily fulfilled. It is about heartbreak and longing, jealousy and hatred, exploitation and self-inflicted submission. Nevertheless, the basic tone remains hopeful. The stylized images are structured by off-screen commentary and tango rhythms.
